Removed features from NXE will be reinserted, says Microsoft.

The New XBox Experience, which is the dashboard update for the XBox 360 that will be launched on November 19th, has already been presented as a big change in the user’s experience on the Microsoft platform, but obviously the initial plans seemed to have been a lot more ambitious, as it was reported by Jerry Johnson, Europe’s XBox Live boss, on an interview to CVG. “There’s still a lot of stuff we want to do”, he says, “”Half the things we wanted to do [in NXE] we cut out of the service”.Also according to Johnson, “One of the nice things we did was this architectural change to make things more published and driven from the service. All of a sudden we opened up the platform to say ‘I don’t have to wait until once or twice a year to release something onto the dashboard’.
The NXE introduces a more dynamic system not only for the content updates, but also for the online service’s structure, with the possibility of adding structural functions with a certain continuity. For example: “There’s a Photo Party app that will be part of the platform”, Johnson said. “The way it will be distributed is all of a sudden you’ll see a slot on the dashboard and if you don’t have it you click on it and it’s going to download from the service onto your application part of the dashboard. Those are the type of things we’re going to start doing”
“I think we’re going to see more social, more content-type apps. I also think from a platform perspective we can continue to do a lot of new things”. Amongst all things, it was confirmed the arrival of the XBox Live Primetime, an online quiz game that will involve many players, scheduled for Spring 2009.
