World of Warcraft: a 5 million copy estimate for Lich King

Janco’s Market Analyst Mike Hickey has expressed his own estimates for the sales of Wrath of the Lich King, the highly-anticipated second expansion of World of Warcraft to be released soon. According to Hickey, the expansion will sell at least 5 million copies on its first commercial month alone. The estimate is based on the pre-order numbers that have already been made by users to the big retail stores, and the number of active accounts on the famous MMORPG: more than 11 million, according tot he latest numbers published by Blizzard. This number refers to the number of users with active accounts, including those with trial accounts. Inactive accounts have not been counted for Blizzard’s estimates.
