Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to become a “game of its own”, says developer
The “Modern Warfare” title seems destined to become a game of its own, detaching itself from the Call of Duty series, according to the words from an Activision spokesperson during the GDC 09.
The title Modern Warfare was first born to indicate the first chapter of the Call of Duty series that were placed in the current days and not on the World War II. The results? Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was one of the games that sold more copies in the last ten years.
Now after Call of Duty: World at War, the fifth chapter that went back in time to the 40s, fans are already waiting the arrival of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, scheduled for next November 10th. But Activision seems inclined to abandon the Call of Duty name, leaving only the Modern Warfare subtitle, and rumors say that the changes would start from the next Modern Warfare chapter.
It makes us wonder, at this point, whether Call of Duty will continue to be developed, perhaps restricted to the old wars? We’ll have to see.
