Activision has high hopes for Modern Warfare 2
Modern Warfare 2, now with the Call of Duty part almost officially eliminated from the title, could be the best seller of all game titles. At least that’s what Activision hopes.
Being the direct sequel of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, who was the most sold game in 2007, Modern Warfare 2 has all it takes to repeat the success of its predecessor, but aiming at a complete record might be a little too ambitious. But we’ll have to see.
The record is currently held by Wii Sports that sold more than 42 million copies, followed by Super Mario Bros 3 (more than 40 million), and both of them were helped by the fact they were inserted in a successful bundle (Wii Sports with the Wii, Super Mario Bros 3 with the NES). Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has sold 12 million copies.
Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled to be launched on November 10th.
