Among some of her main features, indeed, there’s the hate for humans, an element that could cause a bit of problems for those who decided to play humans. We’ll present a video by the end of the post that presents Velanna. In the meantime, we’ll remind you all that Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening will be launched on March 16th for PC, PS3 and XBox 360.

Fallout: New Vegas start to catch the attention of gaming magazines, who obviously seem to be fighting to get exclusive rights about Bethesda’s new title. The informations we’ll give you today come from PC Gamer’s next issue’s special. Here’s what we found out:

    • There is an optional hardcore mode, the character needs to drink water, ammo has weight, healing isn’t instant etc. Normal mode is more similar to Fallout 3 gameplay.
    • The storyline is focused on the New California Republic vs. Caesar’s Legion vs. New Vegas residents.
    • You are not a vault dweller but are given a Pip-Boy by someone who is one.
    • There is a screenshot of a vault suit as well.
    • There is an assault rifle looking like the M4, as well as a new big gun with a backpack, held like a minigun.
    • There are special moves for melee weapons in VATS – specifically a move for a golf club called “Fore” which seems to be a groin shot.
    • The Hoover Dam is in the game and is supplying electricity to the city.
    • There is a quest to rescue a ghoul from some super mutants. The ghoul can then become your companion.
    • The Geckos are back.
    • There are both dumb and intelligent super mutants, including the elite Nightkin.
    • Some super mutants look similar to the ones in Fallout 3, while others are new. There is e.g. a female super mutant with a 1950s hairstyle who apparently is one of their leaders.
    • Screenshots include a guy with a beard and straw hat, a ghoul an NCR Ranger
    • The only picture of New Vegas itself is concept art and not a screenshot
    • Some location screenshots include a huge model dinosaur advertising a hotel, some satellite dishes, an array of solar panels
    • A character generation shot showing a “vigor machine” instead of the skill book
    • NCR base is the McCarran Airport, Caesar’s Legion is based in the Vegas Strip, while super mutants are based in a place called Black Mountain. There is also a town called Fremont and another called Primm. A topless revue is mentioned as being in the latter.
    • NCR Ranger armor is similar to a brown combat armor with sleeves, there are concept arts of a Ranger
    • Skils have a bigger effect on conversation choices. E.g. someone with a high Explosives skill may be able to have a conversation about explosives where appropriate.
    • There is a Reputation system in addition to Karma.

While we wait for Fallout: New Vegas’ first images and trailers, we’ll remind you that the launch date is scheduled for next Autumn, for PC, PlayStation 3 and XBox 360.

The presence of the letters PS3 on part of the Mass Effect 2 code has all of a sudden brough some hope to PlayStation 3 owners, hopeful that the title would arrive on their favorite console. But BioWare’s development team has immediately replied to those rumors, justifying it with the fact that the Unreal Engine 3 is a multiplatform engine, and inside it, there would also be instructions for the PS3. The same thing was also present in the first Mass Effect, according to BioWare.

Not this time, my friends, I’m afraid.

After going back and forth many times, the DLC for Dragon Age: Origins, called Return to Ostagar, seem to be finally ready to be distributed online.

BioWare has announced that the DLC will be available next week for all the versions available, which are PC, PS3 and XBox 360. The announcement comes with a little explanation about the issue that made Return to Ostagar be removed from the online distribution:

”We have a big investment planned for Dragon Age with more DLC coming in the next week or so, we ran into an issue with a title update simultaneously hitting with Return to Ostagar and there was a timing issue with both of those. I don’t know if it was a communication error with our distribution partners or what happened there. If they were released in order it would have been fine but it created a bug which prevented progression and obviously that wasn’t acceptable so we pulled it down.”

The expansion, Awakening, was also announced and it should be launched on March 16th.

The Mass Effect trilogy could become a movie. It was Casey Hundson, Mass Effect 2’s producer, to declare it to MTV.

“Obviously we have a tremendous amount of interest from people in Hollywood to make a major motion picture about ‘Mass Effect,’” he said. “The most important thing for us is, we don’t just want to see a movie get made. We want to see a great movie get made, if it’s going to get done at all.”

We’re of the opinion that if a movie is to be made, based on one of the best Sci-Fi RPG games in the market right now, it’s better to be a good movie in order not to ruin the game’s story. But we’ll have to wait and see.
