Those fans that were hoping to see StarCraft 2 this year will be disappointed in knowing that Blizzard has made it official that the second chapter of the real-time strategics will be launched during the first half of 2010.
The real reasons behind the apparent delay (as the game’s lead designer, Chris Sigaty, had talked about the possibility of launching it this year) is due to Battle.net’s relaunch schedule. Battle.net is the online platform that manages all Blizzard’s multiplayer games and it’s defined as being “an essential part on the StarCraft 2 experience and all our games”, according to the developers.
Always according to them however, the new Battle.net will need more preparation time before the game launch, so we won’t be seeing it on 2009.

The real-time strategic Command & Conquer 4 will require an Internet connection available at all times, even to play the single player campaign. A post on the Command & Conquer Den has revealed this information.
“As of right now, you need to be online all the time to play C&C 4. This is primarily due to our “player progression” feature so everything can be tracked. C&C 4 is not an MMO in the sense of World of Warcraft, but conceptually it has similar principles for being online all the time. While some may be taken aback by this, we’ve been testing this feature internally with all of our world-wide markets. We wanted to make sure it wouldn’t take away any significant market or territory from playing the game. We have not found or seen any results that have made us think otherwise. You won’t need a fast connection, in fact, you could be on age-old dial-up, and have the same single player experience as everyone else. Online all the time won’t cause lag for single-player. We’ve also heavily worked on the online infrastructure such that people with slower connections will not lag other players with faster connections in Multiplayer.”
Although nowadays, it’s likely to assume that everyone has an internet connection, it still seems a little limiting to those players that cannot be able to connect to the internet, but would still want to play the game. Oh well. We remind you all that Command & Conquer 4 will be launched on 2010. For now the only platform announced was the PC, but it would be likely to hope that the game will also be launched for the consoles.

After the anticipation on Twitter (Which turns out to have been true, after all), Elecronic Arts has finally announced Command & Conquer 4, for now scheduled to launch only on PC on 2010.
According to the publisher, the game will conclude the Tiberium saga, narrating the events following the storyline of Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. It will also include class-based gameplay, mobile bases and persistent player progression throughout all game modes. Also included are the 5 vs 5 objective-based multiplay.
GameTrailers will feature the first trailer in exclusive next July 23th, and in the meantime, fans can take a look at the game’s official website.

We’ll treat it as a rumor for now, as it could be a true error or a new marketing plot from the guys at Electronic Arts, but the official Twitter account has shown a message that announced the development of Command & Conquer 4, with a link to an official communication and all that.
At this point, mistake or not, we think it’s more than appropriate to wait for something more, hoping that the next few hours will bring more explanations to this mystery. Considering it came from the official UK PR twitter site, it’s not that wrong to assume this is official explanation. But we will wait and see.

If StarCraft II has been delayed for a year, arriving at six years of development, World of Warcraft is to blame. Rob Pardo, Blizzard’s vice-president, has declared that most of the design team had been shifted to World of Warcraft for a year in order to finish the game.
Oh well, the good thing is that now we know that StarCraft II is somewhat near, although the launch date is still a mystery: there are those that say it will come this Autumn, and those who don’t think it’ll be around before next year. The beta will definitely be arriving this year, so at least a consolation prize for fans.
Now we’ll leave you to the videos! Enjoy!
